*What he _has_ announced / said*

1. *June 5, 2026 – After being optioned to Triple-A*

Bello spoke to reporters and addressed the demotion:

> “Just stop talking about bullpen and starting games. I’ve always been a starter.”

> “It was a really tough day… I even shed some tears. I have so much love and passion for this game.”

 

He said he was ready to “fall in love with baseball all over again” and do “whatever role” the Red Sox gave him.

 

2. *July 12, 2026 – Recalled to MLB*

Red Sox recalled him from Worcester to help the bullpen before the All-Star break. He pitched 4 1/3 IP vs Mets: 2 hits, 1 run, 5 Ks.

 

*What he has NOT announced*

– No trade request

– No release

– No free agency departure

– No retirement

He’s still under his 6-year, $55M contract with Boston through 2029.

 

Right now he’s on the active roster as a swingman/long reliever while Boston tries to get him back on track.
