The St. Louis Cardinals have made a notable lineup decision involving Jordan Walker ahead of their five-game series against the Cincinnati Reds, with the young outfielder set to remain a key part of the club’s offensive plans.
Walker enters the series coming off one of his best performances of the season. In Sunday’s 11-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs, he collected three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. He also added two doubles, giving St. Louis a major offensive boost as the Cardinals secured their fourth consecutive series victory.
The timing is particularly significant because the Cardinals are beginning a demanding stretch against Cincinnati. The clubs are scheduled to play five games in four days, including a doubleheader on Monday, as St. Louis continues its push in the National League Wild Card race.
Walker has also enjoyed success against the Reds throughout his career. According to MLB’s series preview, he has recorded 10 doubles, four home runs and 18 RBIs in 32 career games against Cincinnati.

His recent surge could therefore be especially valuable for St. Louis. Walker’s 24th home run of the season on Sunday was only his second homer in 30 games, but his three-hit, four-RBI performance showed the kind of impact the Cardinals have been hoping to see from him.
The Cardinals are entering the Reds series at 63-61 and remain within striking distance of the final National League Wild Card position. With the club coming off consecutive offensive explosions against Chicago, Walker’s continued presence in the lineup gives St. Louis another dangerous middle-of-the-order bat.
The Reds series represents an important opportunity for the Cardinals to maintain their momentum. And after Walker’s statement performance at Wrigley Field, all eyes will be on whether the talented outfielder can carry that production into Cincinnati.
