The transfer was officially confirmed by Tottenham on 6 August 2025, ending Son’s remarkable 10-year spell with the club. The forward had joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and went on to become one of the most influential players in the club’s modern history.

Son finished his Tottenham career with 173 goals in 454 appearances, captaining the club and helping Spurs win the UEFA Europa League in 2025. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot during the 2021/22 season after scoring 23 league goals.

LAFC confirmed that Son joined the club on a Designated Player contract through 2027, with additional options that could extend his stay. The club described the signing as a major addition to its squad and highlighted Son’s achievements at Tottenham and with the South Korean national team.

The move marked a new chapter for the 34-year-old forward after a decade in English football. Son himself had previously described leaving Tottenham as one of the most difficult decisions of his career, saying that after 10 years he felt he needed a new environment and a fresh challenge.
