Shockwaves have swept through the Newcastle United fanbase following a dramatic report claiming that head coach Matthias Jaissle has submitted his resignation letter to the club. The stunning claim has left supporters asking the same question: Why would Jaissle walk away so soon after taking charge at St James’ Park?
Jaissle only arrived at Newcastle this summer after replacing Eddie Howe, signing a long-term contract and beginning a new chapter with the Magpies. His early weeks in charge have already produced plenty of attention, including an unbeaten start before the heavy defeat to Leeds United.
The latest claim, however, has not been confirmed by Newcastle United or reliable current reporting. In fact, Jaissle was still leading the team on Saturday, 19 September, when Newcastle defeated Hull City 2–1 at St James’ Park.
That makes the alleged resignation especially explosive.
If such a resignation were ever confirmed, it would immediately raise questions about what could have happened behind the scenes. Would it be related to disagreements over club decisions, squad management, expectations, or personal reasons?
For now, though, Newcastle supporters should treat the resignation story with caution. There is no verified evidence at present that Jaissle has resigned.
The German coach remains Newcastle’s head coach, and his focus appears to be on preparing the team for the challenges ahead.
One thing is certain: if an official resignation announcement does emerge, it would represent a major development at St James’ Park.
