Celtic fans are once again facing fresh speculation surrounding captain Callum McGregor, with questions growing about his long-term future at Celtic Park.
Reports and football discussions have recently focused on the possibility of McGregor eventually leaving the club, particularly as the experienced midfielder approaches the later stages of his career. However, there is no confirmed report that McGregor has submitted a termination letter to Celtic.
McGregor remains contracted with Celtic until May 2028, according to current player-contract data.
The speculation comes during a difficult period for Celtic. The club suffered a 3–0 defeat against Rangers before losing 3–1 to Ferencvaros in the Europa League, increasing pressure around the team. McGregor himself has publicly called for the squad to stay together and fight through the difficult spell.
For now, Celtic supporters will have to wait for an official announcement before believing claims that their captain has formally asked to terminate his contract.
Is this the beginning of the end for Callum McGregor at Celtic, or is the captain staying to fight for the club he has represented for so many years?
