Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope has once again become the subject of transfer speculation, with his future at St James’ Park remaining uncertain.

Despite reports linking the experienced England international with a move away from Newcastle during the summer transfer window, Pope has not completed a confirmed transfer and remains a Newcastle United player as of September 18, 2026.

Newcastle strengthened their goalkeeping department during the summer by bringing in Lukas Hornicek and Ewen Jaouen. The arrivals have affected Pope’s position in the squad, with reports indicating that he has fallen down the goalkeeping pecking order.

Newcastle’s Premier League transfer window closed on September 1, but some international markets remain open. Reports have suggested that a move could still be possible if a suitable opportunity emerges in one of those leagues. Saudi Arabia, in particular, has been identified as a market whose transfer window remains open until October 12.

For now, however, there is no official announcement confirming that Pope has left Newcastle. The goalkeeper remains registered with the club, meaning supporters will have to wait for an official statement before treating any reported transfer as completed.

Pope joined Newcastle from Burnley in 2022 and has made more than 100 Premier League appearances for the Magpies. He played a significant role during Newcastle’s return to the Champions League and remains one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the squad.
