The Atlanta Braves have quietly added another pitching option, signing left-hander Tanner Bauman to a minor league contract after he became available following his time in the New York Yankees organization.
The move gives Atlanta another arm to develop within its minor league system while providing Bauman with an opportunity to work his way back toward the major leagues.
According to the Braves’ official transaction log, Atlanta signed Bauman to a minor league contract on Aug. 7, 2026. The club’s transaction record also indicates that Bauman had been acquired from the York Revolution of the Atlantic League around the same time.
Bauman’s arrival is the latest example of Atlanta looking beyond the major-league free-agent market for potential pitching depth. Rather than making a headline-grabbing move, the Braves have continued to make smaller additions that could pay dividends later in the season.
The timing is particularly notable given Atlanta’s ongoing need for pitching depth. The Braves have dealt with injuries and workload concerns throughout the season, making organizational depth increasingly important as the postseason race continues.
For Bauman, joining Atlanta represents another opportunity to prove himself and potentially earn a promotion if he performs well in the minors.
The Braves have been active on this front throughout 2026, adding several pitchers on minor league agreements. The organization also recently brought in Elieser Hernández on a minor league contract, further highlighting its effort to build additional pitching options.
While Bauman is not expected to immediately become part of Atlanta’s major-league pitching staff, the signing could prove valuable if he can establish himself as a reliable option in the organization.
For now, the move remains a low-risk addition—but one that could become more significant if Bauman catches the Braves’ attention with his performance in the minors.
