A claim circulating online suggests that Celtic FC captain and midfielder Callum McGregor has been suspended from football after allegedly testing positive for a prohibited substance.
However, there is currently no credible confirmation from Celtic FC, UEFA, or another authoritative football or anti-doping body that McGregor has been suspended or has failed a doping test.
Recent information points in the opposite direction. Celtic’s official website published an interview with McGregor on September 12, 2026, while he has also continued to feature for the club during the 2026/27 campaign.
McGregor also played in Celtic’s recent Scottish Premiership fixtures, and reports following Celtic’s 3–0 defeat to Rangers on September 13 quoted him speaking as captain about the team’s performance.
What does this mean?
At this stage, the allegation should be treated as unverified. There is no reliable evidence establishing that McGregor tested positive for a banned substance or that a suspension has been imposed.
Because doping allegations can seriously affect a player’s reputation and career, it is important not to treat a sensational “JUST NOW” headline as proof without an official announcement.
For now, Celtic supporters should wait for information directly from Celtic FC, UEFA, the relevant anti-doping authorities, or another established source before believing or sharing the claim.
