MARINERS SLUGGER LAZARO MONTES MAKES T-MOBILE PARK HISTORY WITH 474-FOOT BLAST
Seattle Mariners rookie Lazaro Montes delivered one of the most spectacular home runs of the 2026 season Tuesday night, launching a massive 474-foot shot against the Texas Rangers at T-Mobile Park.
Montes, serving as Seattle’s designated hitter, crushed the home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, reportedly setting the record for the longest home run ever hit at T-Mobile Park.
The towering blast was particularly impressive given T-Mobile Park’s reputation as one of the least hitter-friendly ballparks in Major League Baseball. Montes’ display of raw power provided a major spark for a Mariners offense that entered the game having scored the fewest runs in the majors.
The home run also put Montes in elite company. His 474-foot drive matched the longest home run hit in MLB during the 2026 season, tying Fernando Tatis Jr. for the league’s longest recorded blast.
Montes’ historic swing briefly brought Seattle within one run of Texas and gave the Mariners renewed momentum in the game. However, the Rangers quickly responded with a five-run inning, extending their lead and taking control of the contest.
Despite Seattle’s struggles this season, Montes has emerged as one of the club’s most intriguing young players. With the Mariners leaning toward a youth movement, the remainder of the season could provide the young slugger with an important opportunity to establish himself as a regular part of Seattle’s lineup.
